Deep or open-mouthed kissing, sometimes known as “French Kissing” is a very low risk activity in terms of HIV transmission. There has been only one documented case of someone becoming infected with HIV through kissing – a result of exposure to infected blood during open-mouthed kissing.

What are the chances of getting HIV through kissing?

It can’t be transmitted via saliva, sweat, skin, feces, or urine. So, there’s no risk of getting HIV from regular social contact, such as closed-mouth kissing, shaking hands, sharing drinks, or hugging because those bodily fluids aren’t exchanged during these activities.
